Dressler Group at formnext 2017: new HP Inc. ‘preferred partner’

Dressler Group at formnext 2017:
Exhibition of the plastic and 3D printing expertise of new HP Inc. ‘preferred partner’

Additive manufacturing/3D printing has revolutionised the manufacture of more complex or rarely needed components and even enables decentral manufacture on demand. The Dressler Group is making a major contribution here: with its almost 40 years of expertise in the finishing and precise optimisation of plastic powders, it gets the raw material for 3D printing to the machines in the first place.

Trade fair highlights for the Dressler Group at a glance:

#1: Optimisation of plastic powders, designed specifically for customer requirements

#2: The Dressler Group is a preferred partner of HP Inc. (previously Hewlett Packard) for developing and manufacturing powder for HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printers

#3: In-house development Spherical Powder Technology (SPT) enables previously unachievable degrees of fineness e.g. in PEEK plastics and opens up brand new areas of application

#4: Innovation Day @ Dressler Group: Information platform by experts for experts first-hand // becoming acquainted with the ‘future in real time’ principle on site in the Innovation Lab and technical centre

Meckenheim, 14 November 2017 – The Dressler Group from Meckenheim near Bonn will be attending the formnext trade fair in Frankfurt am Main from 14 to 17 November. More than 470 exhibitors from Germany and abroad are expected at the event focusing on additive manufacturing/3D printing.

EXPERTISE IN PLASTIC POWDER

The Dressler Group specialises in grinding and finishing plastic powders. With the Innovation Lab and technical centre, it has its own research facilities that create an optimum link between theory and practice. Production takes place on systems that the company largely plans and builds itself. All techniques, such as warm and cold grinding, spraying, extruding and mixing, are offered.

LATEST PROCESS DEVELOPMENT

When it comes to manufacturing/3D printing, the Dressler Group has already experienced a hugely positive response at numerous trade fairs and conferences with its latest innovation Spherical Powder Technology (SPT). The special feature: for instance, SPT enables degrees of fineness of less than 80y for PEEK plastics, which had been impossible until now. What’s more, the process can optionally be undertaken completely without additives, it works at comparatively low temperatures, even enables filled powders, and significantly improves free-flowing properties. Overall, SPT powders open up brand new application options, such as highly complex, more resilient structures in 3D printing.

“In many cases, SPT gets the raw material to the machine in the first place,” says Jan Dressler, managing partner and CEO at the Dressler Group. “It maximises the reliability and productivity of the printers because the SPT powder is extremely free-flowing thanks to a level of roundness that has not been achievable in this dimension until now. At the same time, processing steps are cut out – thus increasing cost-effectiveness and environmental efficiency.” In its soon-to-be 40-year history, the Dressler Group has become established as a kind of extended research department and workbench for its customers.

PREFERRED HP PARTNER (ecosystem network)

This original expertise has now impressed America’s HP Inc. (previously Hewlett Packard). The PC and printer manufacturer announced on 9 November 2017 that it has selected the Dressler Group to be what it calls a preferred partner, which takes care of developing and manufacturing of powders for the HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer for HP.   http://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-news/media-kits/2017/hp-jet-fusion-3D-4210.html

INNOVATION ON OFFER

Besides its attendance at the formnext trade fair, the Dressler Group is offering a further opportunity to get to know the company in detail: anyone interested can apply their individual ideas to the optimisation of their own plastic powder in the Innovation Lab and the connected technical centre in Meckenheim and take home the finished specifications – wish fulfilment on demand, so to speak. With minimum cost risk and maximum success.

Dressler Group - The Grinding Authority

About the Dressler Group

The Dressler Group has specialised and been comprehensively certified in the grinding and finishing of chemical and technical products for all key industries for over 35 years. At the same time, the Dressler Group has always undertaken research and development. All types of grinding and complete warehousing and packaging logistics are offered. Both gram-based test grinding and individually specified large quantities are available. Always exactly reproducible and just in time.

Dressler Group presents Spherical Powder Technology at Swiss Plastics Expo 2017

In October 2016, the Dressler Group experienced a hugely positive response at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf with its latest innovation Spherical Powder Technology (SPT). The Meckenheim-based specialists in plastic grinding and finishing want to repeat this by participating at the specialist trade fair Swiss Plastics Expo in Lucerne from 24-26 January 2017.

According to a proverb, “talking brings people together”. And the good 35 years of experience amassed by the Dressler Group says that it’s true. After all, a lively and direct exchange with customers is the most important success factor for the family-operated company. In this way, the experts at the Dressler Group know precisely what the industry needs. And more so, what it could need in the future. The latest innovation by the Meckenheim-based company is known as Spherical Powder Technology (SPT), which was presented for the first time at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf and received an enthusiastic reception from the trade fair visitors.

Using the new spraying procedure, it is possible, for instance, to produce PEEK plastics with a degree of fineness of less than 80 µ. This was impossible until now and opens up new possibilities, such as for 3D printing and moulding applications. At the same time, SPT increases time efficiency by removing processing steps, improves cost efficiency through greater material utilisation, increases the surface quality and enables huge creative freedom in the production of extremely complex components.
SPT powders are extremely free-flowing and, due to customer requests, are produced completely free of additives.

Dressler is convinced that this revolution in plastics finishing will also meet with great interest in Switzerland. Ultimately, the Swiss Plastics Expo, which will take place from 24 to 26 January 2017 in Lucerne, has made a good name for itself as a specialist trade fair and innovation platform. In total, over 300 exhibitors and 6,000 visitors are expected in a trade fair space measuring around 7,000 m². The best conditions, then, to come together with people again through talking at the Dressler stand, Hall 1/Stand D1087.

Besides presenting SPT, other topics are on the trade fair agenda such as the challenges of Industry 4.0 and ever stricter environmental protection regulations. Naturally, Dressler also has individual solutions ready for the representatives of all key industries. “Among our customers, we have earned a reputation for developing the future in almost real time and often being able to make the seemingly impossible possible. We naturally also want to convey this to the trade fair visitors and the trade press in Lucerne in face-to-face discussions,” says Jan Dressler, managing partner at the Dressler Group.

The Dressler Group has been specialising in plastic grinding for three and a half decades, is fully certified, and has also been undertaking fundamental research and development right from the start. Together with customers from all key industries such as aerospace, food and pharmacy, it also develops individual solutions for applications that have actually been considered impossible until now. from gram-based test grinding to large quantities, exactly reproducible and just in time.

Complete presentation success and further talks with people in search of innovation

Meckenheim, 3 November 2016: “Quality, not quantity”: this is how the company representatives from the Dressler Group summed up the result of customer conversations and a visible trade fair presence after eight extremely successful trade fair days at this year’s “K”. The new technique “SPT” and the expanded performance capacity enjoyed great interest among the trade fair visitors.

Trade fair highlight “SPT” - Spherical Powder Technology: The powder technology made its debut at the major trade fair for the plastic industry. The flagship product of the new Innovation Lab at the Dressler Group impressed with its extreme free-flowing properties while also being 100 percent free of additives. The spraying procedure allowed an extra fine, material-protecting powder to be created, which, with its excellent flow properties, enables new processing steps, applications and/or quality improvements. This is added value that the experts at the Dressler Group will further develop in the coming months in close collaboration with innovation-oriented customers. The innovation promise made by the trade fair “K” was fulfilled in full for the visitors to the Dressler Group trade fair stand.

Focal topics “dg aktuell”: Trends, topics, trendsetters. Discussions with manufacturers and the content of various specialist talks confirmed the trends with which the Dressler Group will also help shape the future: 3D printing, industry 4.0, environmental protection. All of this compels manufacturing companies to search for partners with solutions. “This is precisely where our expertise in plastic refining comes in. We are experts when it comes to process engineering relating to 3D printing, the processing of bioplastics, fine grinding below 200 μ, reducing additives and increasing material yield. Our services help our customers to achieve greater efficiency and ensure the necessary innovative leaps through continuous quality improvements,” explains Jan Dressler, CEO at the Dressler Group.

Summary “a fine job”: For the Dressler Group, the trade fair also acted as an indicator of future demand with regard to the latest innovations and service developments. In particular, the new refining technique “Spherical Powder Technology” (SPT) – with the aid of which
materials such as e.g. PEEK/PEKK are refined in previously unattained purity levels (below 80 μ) – but also efficient grinding techniques under GMP conditions met with great interest among existing and new customers. The orders placed at the trade fair (grinding, test spraying) showed that the expertise in the “extra fine” field is well accepted by the market. This confirmed the strategy of the Dressler Group, which concerns itself with developing innovative leadership, achieving controlled volume growth and exploring promising overseas markets.
For the organisation, this means that further concepts relating to capacity adjustments need to be tested. This also involves cooperation considerations and the case-by-case investigation of development partnerships over the short to medium term. These are details about which the board of management will be able to report at the end of February.

The Dressler Group companies are participating in the “K” for the 11th time, presenting true “value-added solutions”

Meckenheim, 29 September 2016: The Dressler Group’s motto “Only the Finest” came to the fore while again presenting their new refining procedures to the international trade audience. The company has operated in the outsourced/toll grinding services industry for over 35 years and has specialised in customising processing procedures. The three companies constituting the Dressler Group – godding + dressler, linus and mps – are now using the largest industry event to solicit public attention for their capabilities and to position themselves as a successful partner for plastics processing. The experts of the “Grinding Authority” have brought with them a revolutionary innovation and two future-relevant developments by their company, which Jan Dreßler, the Managing Director of the company, is introducing personally during the first week of the trade fair (19 – 23 October). He will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Innovation #1: Spherical Powder Technology – an innovative processing method with revolutionary added-value for customers: extreme pourability, even for medium particle sizes; improved environmental behaviour (up to 100 percent reduction in additives, optimised energy balance). In short: A powder technology that makes new processing steps and applications possible, all while being able to use materials extremely gently in the process.
Managing Director Jan Dreßler: “Just in time for the “K”, we are proud to present a new method that will redefine the pourability of plastics. This proves that our innovations are instrumental in increasing our customers’ efficiency and flexibility and make significant quality improvements. This new method will enable us to revolutionise the plastics processing market over the next few years.”

Development #1: This company alliance has been operating under the name of the Dressler Group since 2014, because some things must change so that everything can remain good. Investment in the future of the company has always been a tradition in the family business: Doubling the service areas by 20,000 m2 (warehouse, logistics), investing 3 million EUR in additional research and development capacities (technology centres, innovation lab), as well as the acquisition of the ISO 50001 certification (energy management for optimised environmental behaviour). This guarantees optimised results along the complete value-added chain (grinding, GMP grinding procedures, screening, mixing, pre-fabricating, micronising, powder spraying, patented cryo-spraying, fractioning, cleanroom production processes). “Our customers benefit from our innovations and investments in three ways simultaneously: ecologically, economically and qualitatively. We not only offer state-of-the-art, certified quality standards and procedures, but also facilitate highest-level research and development services at the same time. Our experts – chemists, technicians, engineers and application specialists – work in perfect harmony using the systems developed in-house. This knowledge, accumulated over the last 35 years of process engineering and the flexible use of speciality equipment makes it possible for us to realise the “future in real-time”, according to Jan Dreßler. In concrete terms, this means that we can produce reproducible, stable-quality batches - in just a few steps - from the initial trial grinding tests. This is a promise, emphasised by the Dressler Group with a number of additional service upgrades.

Development #2: Value-added services in the Dressler Group – today: Measurable service orientation through lean, cost-optimised processes, flexible warehousing and production capacities, individual filling batches, quality assurance, consulting, and documentation - and tomorrow: expansion in the areas of process digitisation, knowledge management and cooperation.
